PE and Sports Funding

The Government has set aside funding of £150 million per annum each academic year to provide new, substantial primary school sports funding. The funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – is to improve the provision of PE and school sport and is allocated directly to primary schools. Schools must spend the funding to improve the quality of the PE and sports activities they offer their pupils, but they are free to choose the best way of using the money.

At St John’s and St Clement’s, PE and school sport play a very important part in the life of our school. We believe that they contribute to the holistic development of our children and through participation, our children build on and learn more about our key values.
