The Governing Body

  • Chair St John’s Foundation Governor

I have been Chair of Governors for the last 4 years. My 2 children were both educated at St John’s and St Clement’s School, one is at Secondary School and the other is now at University. I enjoy still being involved with the school and we are committed to providing the best education for the children in the school in a happy and thriving environment. I have been a governor for 12 years and am currently a Foundation Governor for St John’s Church. I work for BT as a Senior Project Manager.

  • Co-Headteacher

I joined St John’s and St Clement’s Primary School as Head teacher in September 2016. I am working closely with the governing body to develop the learning and teaching at the school so we provide the best possible education for our children. Children are at the heart of all I do and I have two young children of my own.

  • Local Authority Governor (Vice-Chair)

It’s fantastic being a school governor at St John’s and St Clements. I am now in my 3rd year as local authority appointed governor. My 5 year old daughter Alicia in 1I on her first day at school pointed at my photo on the school notice board and said “that’s like you dad, do you work here?” Well, I work in the largest transplant centre in Europe at Kings College Hospital. I am also a director of London Mutual Credit Union, a community bank. I bring my strategic insight and financial skills to the school which enable me and other governors to make hard decisions for the benefit all pupils and the school. My role as chair of Finance and Resource Committee is to ensure we make right decisions about the school’s budget and staffing. As chair I ensure that all proceedings are fair and every voice heard. My motto as a school governor is to ask challenging questions which are focussed on improvement and hold the head and senior leaders to account for pupils’ outcome. In my spare time I enjoy running marathons.

  • St John's Foundation Governor

I joined the governing body in 2016 when I became Vicar of the church of St John the Evangelist, East Dulwich, and I currently chair the Pupil, Parent and Community Committee. When I started, I had one child at St John’s and St Clement’s, who has now joined my older child at secondary school. Before I was a Vicar, I was a secondary teacher in Southwark for 10 years. I think St John’s and St Clement’s is fantastic, and achieves that perfect educational balance of challenge and nurture. I hope that all children are happy in school, so that they can grow and learn together. In my spare time, I love walks in the park with our dog, going on camping holidays, and reading lots of books.

  • St Clement's Governor

Leonie is an experienced senior HR leader with experience in education, the cultural sector and transport. Leonie is the Foundation Governor for St Clement’s Church and also experienced the school as a parent when her twins attended from reception to year six.

  • Co-Headteacher

  • SDBE Governor (Vice Chair)

I have been a governor at the school since 2018. I have two children. My eldest started in reception at St John’s and St Clement’s in 2021 and my youngest enjoys helping pick his brother up from school or school clubs at the end of the day.

I am a qualified chartered accountant and I work advising clients on energy-related transactions.

  • Foundation (St John's)

I joined the governing body in 2020 as a foundation governor of St Johns. I enjoy working with the school headteachers and leadership in the strategic direction of the school, overseeing the school’s financial performance, and supporting the school leadership to drive school improvement. I’m also the lead governor for special educational needs. I have enjoyed learning about what it takes to effectively run a school within the allocated resources and it has been a rewarding experience to be a part of a community that provides more than an academic experience to children.

  • Foundation (St Clement's)

I am the newest member of the governing body having joined in January 2022. Having recently become a mother and as a member of St John’s congregation, I wanted to give something back to the local community by becoming a school governor. There is a lot to learn about how to run an effective, inclusive school like St John’s and St Clement’s but I am really enjoying being involved and seeing how the school provides a positive learning environment where children thrive.

I work as a criminal barrister prosecuting and defending cases across the county. When I’m not at work I can usually be found in the local parks, soft plays, or swimming pools with my son.

  • Parent Governor

  • Parent Governor

  • Teacher Governor

I joined the Governing Body as a Staff Governer when the chance arose in late 2023. I have always been passionate about ensuring the best possible education for all children within school and wanted to learn more about how to do this alongside other Governers. I am enjoying learning about all the different essential areas needed in order to efficiently run such a brilliant school and will endeavour to contribute to the best of my abilities in order to support the school's successful growth.
