Upcoming Diary Dates

Reception

Reception have had the BEST week! The Nativity show was amazing….Mrs Davies and Miss Regaard are so proud of all the children, who sang their hearts out! How uplifting- as all our voices were raised in song, especially singing Love Shone Down.

We have been learning how to write the greetings in cards, and shown off our creative skills as we made cards and ornaments to bring home. Our scissor skills are coming along beautifully. Speaking of fine motor skills… aren’t socks tricky!

Next term we start PE and all children need to be able to get their own shoes and socks off and on, as well as their jumpers. Please help them practise over the holidays. Thank you for all the generous donations of food for our class parties, we are so lucky. And finally thank you for your lovely cards and gifts, to us; everyone in our lovely reception team wishes you all a wonderful Christmas season.

Year 1

We have had such an amazing, festive time in Year 1 recently! Last week we went to the church to visit Reverend Gill. We got to dress up and tell the Christmas story together. This week we did three performances of our nativity show and it was fantastic! It was wonderful to see all of the children’s hard work come together and result in a very sparkly, funny and joyful performance. Thank you for all your support this term and we wish you all a very merry Christmas.

Year 2

Year 2 have had an incredible week, performing their Nativity to packed out audiences! Everyone has done a superb job; the acting and singing was sensational! We are so proud of everything you have achieved this term and want you all to have a relaxing rest over the Christmas break. Have a very Merry Christmas to you and your families, and we will see you bright and fresh in the New Year! The Year 2 Team x

Year 3

This week, Year 3 went on an exciting trip to the Horniman Museum where we learnt about musical instruments from different continents. We attended a workshop, which was linked to the work we have been doing in science on the topic of sound. The next day we made our very own musical instruments and we experimented with different ways of changing the pitch and volume

Year 4

In Year 4 we have been having fun making ‘milkshakes’! We investigated how cooling gradually changes a liquid to a solid. We were also fascinated by why adding salt to ice seems to make the ice feel colder.

Year 4 have been learning about coordinates in maths this week. We played a fun game, called Battleships. This game involves reading coordinates while trying to sink your opponent’s ships.

Year 5

Our Yr 5 students have really enjoyed reading our sci-fi English text ‘Robot Girl’. We have learnt how to use punctuation for direct speech and have started to apply this to our own narratives. Professor Washington and Professor Berry are looking forward to reading the final outcomes.

Year 6

We made it!!! Year 6 have been working so hard in all areas of the curriculum this term and have made their teachers extremely proud. We are looking forward to a well-earned break for Christmas.

Music this week…

The music room was feeling festive this week as Year 2 used rhythm sticks to accompany The Sugar Plum Fairy’s famous dance from the ballet The Nutcracker. The children had to follow the rhythm patterns and stay in time.

Year 4 children were using the cups to accompany the tune of Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson. They had to tap out different rhythms on the floor.

Year 5 were reading music from sections of The 12 Days of Christmas song. They then played the notes on the glockenspiels and keyboards.

Have a wonderful weekend - see you next week!
