Our Churches

Our school is linked with and supported by our parish churches of St John the Evangelist and St Clement with St Peter.

Throughout the year we work closely with the Church including a Harvest Service, Christmas, Easter, and the end of the school year. Rev. Gill is one of our school governors and she regularly comes into school to lead collective worship and spend time with the staff and children.

Community, Churches & Partnerships

Communities

  • Community is one of the school’s values and children at SJSC are encouraged to become active and engaged learners, who understand their responsibilities as citizens to promote equality, social justice and positive change. Through our links with our community opportunities are created for children to look beyond themselves and are emerged in enriching experiences for all.

For our children, this can mean supporting and fundraising for local charities. We have a close relationship, for example, with Peckham Food Bank to whom we donate our collection from our Harvest Festival. Our pupils regularly hold fundraising events to support good causes.

We enjoy learning from and through local galleries, for example, children regularly visit Dulwich Picture Gallery- taking part in workshops and exhibiting work. Many of our children also took part in the wonderful East Dulwich Spring Awakening festival.

And through a parent link we have set up regular workshops with local project Hairlooms, funded by The Big Lottery Celebrate, through which audiences learn about the cultural importance of hair in African societies.

In order to involve and celebrate our community, we host various events such as school fayres and a well-regarded International Evening which this year expanded to involve another local school.

For our children, we seek to develop and maintain relationships with a range of secondary schools to ensure pupils and parents can make an informed decision about secondary education.

Our teachers and leaders work collaboratively with other schools to ensure we constantly develop provision and we are members of the Southwark School’s Teaching Alliance.
