St John's and St Clement's Primary School
Dear Parents,
On Wednesday this week there was a problem with the cookers in the school kitchen and we were unable to offer a hot lunch. However, all pupils were offered sandwiches, salad, fruit and cake. I apologise for this. Engineers have now solved the problem.
Mrs Burdett (3BE) will be leaving us on Friday 7 March to start her maternity leave. We wish her well! Congratulations to Ms Jackson (3M) who is now Mrs Lyons!
Ms Evans will teach Class 3BE full time from Monday 10 March. We look forward to welcoming Mr Muziol who will be teaching PE to years 1 - 6 and Miss Smith who will be teaching music. Both will start on Monday 10 March.
Thank you to the members of the PTFA who installed our new willow wigwam in the playground during half term.
The D:Side educators in the D:Side bus will arrive next Monday 3 March. They will work with classes on health issues and the importance of medicines/drugs and with older pupils on peer pressure and making decisions.
During assembly at 9am on Friday 7 March, Year 4 pupils will be playing their recorders. Year 4 parents are welcome to join us at 9am in the Middle Hall.
Clubs for pupils in Years 3 and 4 will start next week. We are offering cookery, drama, speed stacking, football, netball and website club.
Our Art / Maths week is the week beginning Monday 17 March. During that week, or the week before, all classes will visit the Tate Modern and much of the week's work will be based on the visit.
A Book Fair will visit school week beginning 17 March. Classes will visit during the school day and children and parents will be invited in after school to buy books.
As you know, you can make an appointment to see me at any time, usually within 24 hours. In addition, I set aside times each term when parents can see me without an appointment. This term the remaining surgery time is: 2 - 4pm Thursday 20 March.
The term dates have been sent out several times, so I hope no parent is surprised to discover that pupils will have Good Friday and Easter Monday as a long weekend (21 - 24 March) and will then return to school until the main holiday starts at 3.20pm on Friday 4 April.
For the first time ever, we will be at school in the Easter season. On Tuesday 25 March we will celebrate Easter in St John's Church at 9.30am. All family and friends are welcome to join us.
This replaces our end of term service on 4 April.
All parents are invited to attend these friendly, informal opportunities to discuss concerns about any aspect of inclusion relating to their child's education here. The final session planned for this term is 9.15am on 26 March.
As parents you are all members of the PTFA. The remaining PTFA event this term is a Cheese and Wine evening on 28 March.
Pupils in Years 3 and 4 are working hard on a production of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes. Performances for parents and friends are at 2pm on Tuesday 1 April and Wednesday 2 April. Please note that the performances are on the top floor; please allow time to climb many stairs! I am sorry that we cannot accommodate prams and buggies.
Builders have converted an unused hall at the very top of the school into a lovely Art room and Music room. We hope to move in soon.
With best wishes,
Mary Gatliffe - Headteacher
