Roles and responsibilities of the school governors
In a voluntary aided school the governors are like a board of directors and make decisions about how the school is run. They meet at least twice a term to help:
Decide what is taught and set targets
Set standards of behaviour
Interview and select staff
Decide how the school budget is spent.
Discuss the vision for the school.
There are three committees that also meet at least once a term.
School governors have legal duties, responsibilities and powers. They can only act together, not individually. Minutes of governor's meetings are kept in the school office for anyone to read.
