Changing the appearance of the screen
You can change the accessibility of the web pages by changing the font and background. Below are some suggestions. All changes are reversible and don't affect images.
Internet Explorer browser
Choosing a different font
- select the Tools menu
- select Internet Options
- in the General tab, select Fonts in the Proportional and Fixed-width font lists,
- select the fonts you would like to use.
Making text appear larger or smaller
You can increase or decrease text size from the text size option in the View menu.
Changing text and background colours
Certain combinations of fonts, typefaces and background colours can sometimes make text difficult to read. You can change these settings by choosing your own colour scheme - black text on a yellow background gives the most contrast
- select Tools
- select Internet Options
- in the General tab, select Colors
- uncheck the tick box labelled Use Windows Colors
- select Text, and select the colour you want. Select OK
- select Background, and select the colour you want to use. Select OK.
- on the General tab, select Accessibility
- select Ignore colors specified on Web pages. Select OK.
To stop images being displayed
- select Tools
- select Internet Options
- in the Advanced tab, scroll down to Multimedia
- select Show pictures to remove the tick
- select Apply, and then select OK.
To expand the size of the window to full screen
Either press the F11 key, or click the Maximize window button located in the top right corner of the browser window; or in the View menu, select Full screen.
